With travel available by land, air, and sea, Haines is one of Southeast Alaska’s most accessible communities.
By Land
The Haines Highways connect Haines to Haines Junction in Canada’s Yukon Territory. This National Scenic Byway makes it possible to travel by car from inside or outside of Alaska via the ALCAN ‘Alaska-Canada’ highway that connects Alaska to the Lower 48.
By Air
If you’re looking to fly into Haines, Alaska Airlines runs connections from major hubs to Juneau, with direct flights departing daily from Anchorage and Seattle. From Juneau, Alaska Seaplanes flies multiple times per day into Haines.

The Alaska Marine Highway connects Haines to the ports of Ketchikan, Juneau, and Bellingham, Washington. The three-day trip from Bellingham to Haines is an experience in itself sailing through Alaska’s Inside Passage. Book vehicle or walk-on tickets on AMH.

When looking for housing in Haines, you’ll notice the town is broken up into four main areas: Lutak, Mud Bay, Haines proper, and properties along the Haines Highway.
